## How many cups are in a pound?

If you want to know how many cups there are in a pound of flour, butter, sugar or any other baking ingredient, fear not. We've put together a table of cup measurements for one pound of each. We also have a handy converter at the top of the page.

If you're converting between pounds and cups, it's important to remember that the cup is a unit of volume and the pound (lb) is a unit of weight. This means that to make the conversion, you need a substance density figure.

## Flour, sugar, butter, margarine and more

I've listed below some common baking ingredients and their conversions. Please be aware that these are approximations - different brands of ingredients will vary. The ingredient densities were sourced from the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations as well as other sources.

Should you wish to see conversions from cups to pounds, please see the baking ingredient conversions page.
